Modos de ver la escuela. Aportes desde una etnografía visual comparada

Esta abierta la inscripción para el segundo taller de Tramas de este año, a cargo del Doctor Joseph Tobin (ASU). Se realizará el próximo lunes 11 de agosto en el Auditorio de FLACSO Argentina, en Ayacucho 551, de 18 a 21 hs.

TobinTramas organiza el  taller para docentes “Modos de ver la escuela. Aportes desde una etnografía visual comparada”. En esta oportunidad, se trata de un taller internacional a cargo de Joe Tobin que contará con traducción sucesiva.
El antropólogo norteamericano Joe Tobin trabajará con docentes, investigadores y otros interesadas/os en el uso de materiales audiovisuales en las escuelas y en las investigaciones educativas.

Contenidos del taller:
1. Presentación del proyecto “La educación pre escolar en tres culturas”, trabajo de investigación coordinado por Joe Tobin y realizado en diferentes escuelas de educación inicial en Estados Unidos, China y Japón. La relación entre culturas y escuelas.
2. Discusión acerca del método: una etnografía multivocal a partir del uso de videos.
3. La eficacia del video y su valor como instrumento de investigación y de formación docente.
4. Algunos hallazgos del proyecto comparado sobre culturas escolares.
5. Implicancias para la práctica y la formación docente.

Modalidad de trabajo: Se proyectarán los videos del proyecto “Preschool in Three Cultures” (La educación inicial en tres culturas) y se abrirán discusiones en pequeños grupos para luego hacer una puesta en común.

U Wyoming Students Vote To Implement Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite for Lecture Capture

An overwhelming student vote for Mediasite will put the Webcasting platform from Sonic Foundry into University of Wyoming lecture halls this fall. Mediasite is a presentation capture tool that records and synchronizes audio, video, and slides and then allows the presenter to provide it online for on-demand viewing or in podcast form. The tool also enables the presenter to make the presentation available online as it happens.

TokBox Offers Free Live Video Talk Functionality

A new plugin called TokBox, from a San Francisco company of the same name and funded by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim, allows users to talk with each other over live video. A component with a “Push to Talk” button can be added to a social network profile, blog, or personal Webpage. A visitor clicks the button to connect to the host in real time using live video and audio.

Intel Unveils Centrino 2 for Laptops

Intel is publicizing its new Centrino 2 processors, which are currently being integrated into laptop computers by about 250 equipment manufacturers. A number of Intel processor products based on Centrino 2 will be publicly unveiled “within 90 days,” according an announcement issued Tuesday by Intel.

Queremos compartir con uds. el video con la entrevista a Gonzalo Frasca, uno de los más conocidos teóricos de videojuegos. Experto en ludología e investigador del Center for Computer Games Research de la University of Copenhage, fundó su propia empresa en la que desarrollaron, entre otros, muchos de los videojuegos de Cartoon Network LA. Su tesis de maestría versó sobre videojuegos, política y cambio social, y se basó en conceptos de Paulo Freire y Augusto Boal.

En esta entrevista responde a muchos de los interrogantes y expectativas que los educadores tenemos sobre videojuegos, aprendizaje y educación.

San Jose State Works with Angel Learning on Second Life Integration

San Jose State University (SJSU) School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) and Angel Learning are collaborating on a project to explore the integration of the Angel Learning Management Suite (LMS) and the Second Life virtual world. The work will focus on how student results from activities in virtual worlds can be securely shared with the Angel LMS. The expected outcome of the project is an Angel dropbox that students can use to share evidence of their work from within Second Life.

Sentrigo Offers Help for Database Patching Woes

Sentrigo Inc. released its new Hedgehog vPatch database security software product Tuesday. The product addresses patching inconsistencies that seem to affect busy Oracle database administrators (DBAs), who don’t always have time to test and patch. However, users of Microsoft SQL Server database in the enterprise can take a lesson here too.

Software provider Starfish Retention Solutions has announced the upcoming launch of its first product, Starfish Office Hours. St. Francis Xavier U Tackles Recruitment with CRM

Nova Scotia’s St. Francis Xavier University is acquiring the Azorus CRM suite after working with the company’s Digital Recruit system for the last year. With Digital Recruit, students at recruiting events fill out a special form with a digital pen that captures the information being written. Recruiters then upload the data stored on the pen to the CRM system, which initiates a communication plan for the student, including an automatic welcome e-mail message.
